Our hospital has a complete range of imaging services including the multislice CT scanner, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), X-rays and ultrasounds, allowing our doctors to provide the most accurate and prompt diagnosis. The department operates 24 hours daily with an experienced team of radiologists assisted by radiographers and technicians, serving inpatient and outpatient cases as well as those referred from external healthcare providers.
General X-Ray is the most commonly performed type of diagnostic examination. It is the fastest and easiest way to view and assess broken bones, joints, skull or spinal injuries. Pantai Hospital Ipoh has 3 general x-ray units to assist in reducing waiting time for patients who require this service.
A regular mammogram screening is recommended for women age 40 years and above. Women with family history of breast cancer are encouraged to undergo a breast mammogram from the age of 35 years onwards.
Our MRI system provides a fast, quiet, high gradient performance that makes MRI scans more pleasant for the patient. The system also incorporates a specialised software for MRI cardiac investigations, being among the few centres in the country that offer this service. Further aided by ultra light-weight coils, the system provides comfort to the patient during the scan and produces better imaging results for the clinicians.
Ultrasound utilises sound frequency instead of radiation to capture an image making it a safer option for all age groups. It can be used even during pregnancy to scan foetal growth. Doppler scans are used to scan blood vessels, beneficial for patients suffering from DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis).
Bone Densitometry is a test like an X-ray that quickly and accurately measures the density of bones. It is used to measure bone loss or identify problems such as osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.
